I don't understand the three star rating, this thing works great!

  2. Works okay, but I've had better 3 Star Review

I've used suction side pool cleaners for 20 years. I've only used 2 other cleaners before the SandShark, the Sta-rite Great White and the Hayward Navigator. Both of these other cleaners did a good job in my 14' x 38' pool, but nearly every year I found I had to rebuild the internals because they would wear out. When I first put the SandShark in the water I thought it was broken because it moved so slow compared to my previous cleaners. I viewed a online video and noticed that it moves quite slow in the video. I had a think film of dust on my pool because my cleaner had been broken for 2 weeks, so it was easy to see how well the cleaner worked and where it covered. There were some parts of the pool that were not cleaned for 2-3 days, but eventually it got to everything on the bottom. I have the pressure adjusted so that it is right on the "max" line of the gauge that is included with the cleaner, so I would expect it to climb the walls. I've yet to see it climb to the water line in 4 weeks, and it has difficulty moving from the floor to the wall except when the slope is gradual enough that the entire bottom of the sweek stays touching the floor to wall transition. I will say my pool looks clean. I'm hoping that because the sweep moved much slower that the internal parts will wear slower that my Great White and my Navigator. We'll see in about a year.

From Web Pool Supply Support Staff:
The Penair Sand Shark is made to go slower than the Hayward Navigator and Pentair Great White. If you are still having issues with the cleaner, you can go to Pentair's Website:

  3. Great Little Pool Cleaner 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Dec 2012

I had a Kreepy Krawly in the past that I was very happy with, but I decided to try the Sandshark. I love it! And our pool guy loves it. It does an incredible job of cleaning our pool (which is in need of a complete remodel). Until we get it redone the Sandshark is doing great at keeping it looking good. Once in a while, the shark stops moving, we go out and nudge it and it starts up again.

  4. Awesome cleaner 5 Star Review

In the 10 years of having a pool this is the best unit ever. The walls are cleaned daily. The only slight issue is it can climb out a bit and suck in air. Their is an adjustment for that per my pool guy (aka husband) Our pool has never been cleaner and this takes all the brushing work off of us. We had the rolling Polaris, the flapping Baracuda, but this is the BEST bar none.
